At many types of works to the engine happens it is necessary to fix a cranked shaft in situation when the piston of the first cylinder is in VMT. Valves of the 1st cylinder in this case are closed. Counting of cylinders is conducted from a forward part of the car.
On the majority of old engines position of the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT. the begunka of the distributor of ignition (the begunok costs against the corresponding marking on the distributor case) is checked by situation, and marking on a flywheel coincides with marking in a viewing opening. It can be made, carefully pushing the car before installation of the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT, it is thus better to include the 5th transfer.

On Zetec and Endura series engines — do not try to turn a cranked shaft for a gear belt — the belt can imperceptibly jump on one tooth that will lead to change of phases of a gazoraspredeleniye. Management time in this case will change, damages of a drive of a camshaft and the case of the piston are programmed.
