On Focus cars the double-circuit hydraulic brake system consisting of two contours, operating on a diagonal is established. Besides the car is equipped with the parking brake which is put in action by a cable.
At refusal of one of contours another remains capable to brake the car. Efficiency of braking thus decreases, you will notice it on longer brake way, and also on the increased course of a pedal of a brake, thus on a combination of devices you will sunbathe a lamp of an emergency condition of brake system and turning on of the parking brake.
On cars disk brakes with ventilated disks, behind — drum-type or disk, depending on a complete set are in front established. On all cars the vacuum amplifier of brakes is established to reduce effort to brake pedals.
On the car the anti-blocking brake system (ABS), system of automatic control of size of a torque on shaft of a drive of driving wheels (BTCS), system of electronic distribution of brake forces (EBD), the electronic program of stabilization of course stability (ESP) are established.

The anti-blocking brake system (ABS) is combined with system of electronic distribution of brake forces (EBD), treats a standard option of brake system of the Focus car. EBD uses system of ABS sensors for definition of number of turns of a wheel. During braking the EBD system watching back wheels, allows to increase so brake effort to them that they were braked on border of their blocking and with the maximum force of braking. The system automatically considers a condition of loading in each case and influences size of a brake way. With a regulation interval to twelve teams in a second of ABS corresponds to the most modern technological level. She creates a basis for system of regulation of brake effort on drives of driving wheels (BTCS) and for the electronic program of stabilization (ESP) which on Focus cars is established by request, since 1999 (fig. 280) . The BTCS system distributes brake efforts in the field of low turnovers of separate wheels. At speed from above from 50 km/h the system changes a torque transferred from the engine to each of driving wheels. The ABS system on the car is completely diagnosed. Codes of malfunction register in the control unit. The service centers Fords read out codes by means of the diagnostic FDS-2000 device.
Regularly check a condition of brake system. Serviceable brakes — it is the best guarantee of your safety. Do not hesitate to remove from time to time a wheel to check a condition of brakes and brake disks. And still connected with brakes it is best of all to transfer work in the specialized workshop, having corresponding the special tool.
